Ich spiele Kontrabass – Band 2 expands the range of notes learned in Volume 1 by an additional three registers up to the 3rd register.
Description
I play double bass – Volume 2 expands the range of notes acquired in the 1st volume of the Double Bass School by another three positions up to the 3rd position. Changing positions now becomes more important and therefore the necessary technique is explained and practiced in more detail. Tuning the double bass with harmonics is learned and the first double stops are used to strengthen the finger and forearm muscles. Further refined bowing techniques will accommodate the upcoming demands on dynamics, articulation and more complicated rhythmic structures. All exercises and pieces were composed by me and reflect contemporary musical styles to encourage fun music making.
An accompanying CD was recorded by the well-known Martin Gasselsberger Trio. This is intended to facilitate and harmonically complement the practice at home. For each piece of the school there are two accompaniment versions on the CD in a modern band style. In the first version, a melody part is integrated in each case, which, however, is played by another instrument in a higher octave position. This allows the students to listen to their own voice (melody) better and still follow the accompaniment more easily. On the second version, only the accompanying band can be heard. Here it is a bit more difficult to follow in tempo and rhythm. A slower version was intentionally not recorded to encourage motivation for practicing the original tempo.
The enclosed piano part makes recital evenings with accompaniment as well as making music together with piano students possible.
