Description

I Play Double Bass – Volume 1 is a comprehensive school for children and adults, beginners and advanced players on the double bass.

With this school I try to take into account the practical training at music schools, and the different needs of the students in terms of age (from 9 years), musical style (classical, jazz, pop, rock, folk music) and educational goal (home music to study at a conservatory). All exercises and pieces were composed by me and reflect contemporary musical styles to encourage the fun of making music.

The structure of the school is divided according to positions, keys and difficulty of the playing and bowing techniques. In order to keep the double bass-specific knowledge as compact and clear as possible, music-theoretical content has been left out in principle and its teaching left entirely to the respective teacher and his or her method.

The enclosed piano part makes recital evenings with accompaniment as well as making music together with piano students possible.

In addition, there is an accompanying CD that facilitates practice at home. For each piece of the school there are two accompaniment versions on the CD in a modern band style. In the first version, a melody part is integrated in each case, but it is played by another instrument in a higher octave position. This allows the students to listen well to their own voice (melody) and still follow the accompaniment easily. On the second version, only the accompanying band can be heard. Here it is a bit more difficult to follow in tempo and rhythm. A slower version was intentionally not recorded to encourage motivation to practice the original tempo.
