Mass Op.26 “God is our hope”

Description

I composed the Opus 26 Mass in the period of about a year 2021/22.
This period was marked by the pandemic and the beginning of the devastating war in Ukraine.
The spiritual and factual background for me in composing was the principle of hope that these plagues and the suffering of many would soon come to an end. So I decided on the title “God is our hope”!
From a compositional point of view, the mass is largely tonal, and thus well singable for church choirs. I have deliberately kept the instrumental scoring small in order to be playable for many, even small congregations!
The Mass parts are: Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus, Agnus Dei.
The initially somewhat “gloomy” mood of the Kyrie soon dissolves in the following mass parts into a brighter, friendlier and more hopeful tonal language.
My basic approach to composing is to combine a largely tonal tonal language with modern sounds!
As textual basis served the German “Gotteslob”!
